Homegrown Huntsville launches monthly ‘Dine & Dash’ event in April

You’ve probably heard of speed dating. How about speed dining?

Homegrown Huntsville’s new Dine & Dash, a monthly event beginning in April, is all about sampling the menus of as many downtown Huntsville restaurants as possible in one night.

“It’s called Dine & Dash for a reason; it’s going to be very fast-paced,” said Ashley Ryals, owner of Homegrown. “But that’s part of what will make it exciting.”

Dine & Dash will feature five groups with 30 seats available. Diners will sample food and drinks, then be shuttled between five establishments by trolley. Each group will have a hostess that will serve as a guide and keep the trains – well, trolleys – on schedule.

A different mix of destinations will be offered on the second Thursday of each month through September. With 17 bars and restaurants participating, most will be visited more than once this year.

The April 12 tour will visit Watercress, Amendment XXI, Commerce Kitchen, Humphrey’s and Lone Goose Saloon. April’s theme is spring wine and appetizer tasting. Future tours are expected to have themes that include beer, coffee and dessert.
